Kajian Pendidikan, Seni, Budaya, Sosial dan Lingkungan (KPSBSL) is committed to promoting responsible research practices, academic integrity, transparency, accountability, and trust in scholarly publishing. The journal recognizes that research integrity is fundamental to the credibility, reliability, and advancement of knowledge in education, arts, culture, social sciences, environmental studies, and related interdisciplinary fields.
All allegations of research misconduct are handled in a timely, impartial, confidential, and responsible manner, guided by recognized publication ethics principles and the journal's editorial policies.
KPSBSL expects authors, reviewers, editors, and other contributors to uphold the highest standards of honesty, fairness, and professional responsibility throughout the research and publication process.
Research misconduct includes, but is not limited to, fabrication or falsification of research data, plagiarism, inappropriate manipulation of images or research results, duplicate publication, undisclosed conflicts of interest, unethical research practices, and other forms of conduct that undermine the integrity, reliability, or originality of scholarly work.
Examples of potential research misconduct include:
Allegations may concern manuscripts submitted for publication, manuscripts undergoing peer review, accepted articles, or articles already published in KPSBSL.
Authors, reviewers, editors, readers, research participants, institutional representatives, and other stakeholders who have reasonable concerns about potential research misconduct are encouraged to report them to the KPSBSL editorial office through the official communication channels provided on the journal's website.
Reports should include relevant details and supporting evidence, where available, to facilitate a fair and thorough assessment. Useful information may include the manuscript or article title, authors' names, publication details, descriptions of the suspected misconduct, relevant source materials, and other documentation supporting the allegation.
The journal encourages individuals to provide accurate information and distinguish documented evidence from personal opinions or unverified claims.
All allegations will be taken seriously, regardless of the identity or institutional affiliation of the person submitting the report. The identity of the complainant will be treated confidentially to the extent reasonably possible, subject to the requirements of a fair investigation and applicable legal or institutional obligations.
Upon receiving an allegation, the KPSBSL editorial team will conduct a preliminary assessment to determine whether the concern warrants further investigation.
The preliminary assessment may involve reviewing the submitted evidence, examining the relevant manuscript or published article, checking supporting documents, consulting available research records, or comparing the work with relevant publications and other sources.
Where appropriate, the journal may request clarification, additional documentation, or a formal response from the authors concerned. Investigations will be conducted objectively and fairly, ensuring that relevant parties have an appropriate opportunity to provide information and respond to the concerns raised.
When necessary, KPSBSL may consult independent experts, research integrity specialists, or other qualified individuals. The journal may also contact the authors' affiliated institutions or relevant research integrity authorities when institutional investigation or verification is required.
The journal will not determine that misconduct has occurred solely on the basis of an unverified allegation. Editorial decisions will be based on the available evidence, the seriousness of the concern, applicable publication ethics principles, and the requirements of fairness, confidentiality, and due process.
The duration and scope of an investigation will depend on the complexity of the allegation, the availability of evidence, and the need to consult relevant parties.
If an allegation is substantiated, KPSBSL will take appropriate action according to the nature and severity of the misconduct and the journal's editorial policies.
Possible actions include:
The journal will select corrective measures based on the evidence, the impact of the misconduct on the reliability of the research, and the need to protect the scholarly record.
Corrections, expressions of concern, and retractions will be communicated through the journal's publication channels, with an appropriate explanation of the reasons for the action. The journal will seek to maintain transparency while respecting confidentiality, privacy, and applicable legal requirements.
KPSBSL will make reasonable efforts to protect the confidentiality of all parties involved in the assessment and investigation of allegations of research misconduct.
Information will be disclosed only when necessary to investigate the concern, obtain expert advice, communicate with relevant institutions, comply with applicable requirements, or implement appropriate editorial actions.
The journal respects the rights of complainants and individuals accused of misconduct and seeks to ensure that allegations are handled fairly and without prejudgment.
KPSBSL does not tolerate knowingly false, malicious, or deliberately misleading allegations. At the same time, individuals who raise reasonable concerns in good faith should not be subjected to retaliation, intimidation, or unfair treatment because they have reported a potential violation of research integrity.
All parties are expected to cooperate honestly and responsibly during the investigation process.
Authors or other directly affected parties may submit a reasoned appeal if they believe that an editorial decision concerning an allegation of research misconduct was based on incomplete information, procedural irregularities, a demonstrable error in assessment, or other substantial grounds.
Appeals should be submitted to the KPSBSL editorial office through the official communication channels and should clearly explain the grounds for reconsideration, together with relevant supporting evidence.
Appeals will be reviewed impartially, and additional information or independent advice may be requested where necessary. Where appropriate, the appeal may be considered by an editor or qualified reviewer who was not directly responsible for the original decision.
The journal will communicate the outcome of the appeal to the relevant parties with an appropriate explanation. The availability of an appeal does not prevent the journal from taking urgent measures when necessary to protect research participants, prevent further harm, or preserve the integrity of the scholarly record.
Maintaining research integrity is a shared responsibility among all participants in the scholarly publishing process.
Authors must ensure that their research is conducted and reported honestly, that their manuscripts accurately represent their findings, and that all sources, contributions, ethical approvals, and relevant conflicts of interest are appropriately disclosed.
Editors must assess allegations objectively, maintain appropriate confidentiality, avoid conflicts of interest, and ensure that editorial actions are proportionate to the evidence and consistent with the journal's policies.
Reviewers must evaluate manuscripts fairly and professionally, protect confidential information, disclose relevant conflicts of interest, and promptly report credible concerns about possible research or publication misconduct to the editorial team.
Research institutions and other relevant authorities may be contacted when allegations require formal investigation beyond the journal's editorial responsibilities or when institutional records and procedures are necessary to establish the facts.
KPSBSL recognizes that the journal's role is to protect the integrity of the publication process and scholarly record, while formal institutional investigations may be necessary to determine matters that extend beyond editorial authority.
Given the interdisciplinary scope of KPSBSL, the journal recognizes that research integrity may involve specific ethical considerations across different fields of scholarship.
Research involving students, teachers, children, vulnerable populations, or other human participants must comply with applicable ethical requirements, including informed consent, confidentiality, and participant protection.
Research involving cultural heritage, indigenous knowledge, traditional practices, artistic works, religious materials, or community-based knowledge must respect intellectual property rights, cultural protocols, appropriate acknowledgment, and the rights of relevant individuals and communities.
Environmental and community-based research must accurately represent observations, field data, environmental measurements, and research findings. Authors must not fabricate or manipulate evidence concerning environmental conditions, conservation outcomes, community impacts, or sustainability claims.
KPSBSL expects all researchers to uphold responsible research practices appropriate to their disciplinary context and to disclose any limitations, uncertainties, or ethical considerations that may affect the interpretation of their findings.
KPSBSL recognizes that maintaining research integrity is a shared responsibility among authors, editors, reviewers, institutions, research participants, and the wider scholarly community.
The journal is committed to addressing allegations of research misconduct responsibly, protecting the rights of relevant parties, and implementing appropriate corrective measures to preserve the accuracy and credibility of the scholarly record.
By maintaining clear procedures for reporting, assessing, investigating, and responding to allegations, Kajian Pendidikan, Seni, Budaya, Sosial dan Lingkungan (KPSBSL) seeks to strengthen public trust in scholarly communication and promote ethical research practices across education, arts, culture, social sciences, environmental studies, and related interdisciplinary fields.
KPSBSL encourages all members of the scholarly community to uphold honesty, transparency, accountability, and respect for intellectual contributions throughout the research and publication process.
