The Journal of Kajian Pendidikan, Seni, Budaya, Sosial dan Lingkungan (KPSBSL) recognizes authorship as an important academic responsibility that reflects meaningful intellectual contributions to the conception, development, execution, analysis, and presentation of scholarly research. All individuals listed as authors of a manuscript must have made substantial contributions to the research and must be willing to take responsibility for the accuracy, integrity, and originality of their work.
To promote transparency, accountability, and ethical research practices, KPSBSL encourages authors to follow internationally recognized principles of authorship and publication ethics. Authorship must be based on genuine scholarly contributions rather than academic position, seniority, institutional affiliation, financial support, or personal relationships.
Individuals may be listed as authors of a manuscript if they have made substantial intellectual contributions to one or more of the following aspects of the research:
All listed authors must meet the applicable authorship requirements, be able to identify their individual contributions, and agree to be accountable for the integrity of the work.
Authors are responsible for ensuring that their manuscripts present original, accurate, and ethically conducted research relevant to the fields covered by KPSBSL, including education, arts, culture, social sciences, and environmental studies.
Authors must provide accurate information, acknowledge the contributions of others, cite relevant sources appropriately, and avoid plagiarism, data fabrication, data falsification, manipulation of research findings, and other forms of research misconduct.
Authors must also ensure that the manuscript has not been published previously and is not simultaneously under consideration by another journal, except where an explicitly permitted publication arrangement applies.
Where applicable, authors must disclose research ethics approval, informed consent, permissions for the use of research materials, funding sources, conflicts of interest, and data availability in accordance with KPSBSL's policies and the nature of the research.
For studies involving human participants, communities, indigenous knowledge, cultural heritage, or environmentally sensitive information, authors must ensure that the research respects applicable ethical requirements, relevant laws and regulations, participant confidentiality, and the rights of individuals and communities.
Each author must carefully review the manuscript before submission and confirm that the work complies with applicable ethical standards, research regulations, and the journal's author guidelines.
The order of authors must be determined collectively by the authors before manuscript submission, based on their respective contributions to the research and manuscript preparation, as agreed upon by the author group.
KPSBSL encourages authors to discuss authorship roles, responsibilities, and the expected order of authorship at the beginning of their research collaboration to minimize misunderstandings and prevent disputes.
The corresponding author is responsible for communicating with the editorial office on behalf of the author group and ensuring that all listed authors have reviewed and approved the submitted manuscript.
Any changes to the author list, including the addition or removal of authors or changes in author order after submission, must be justified and approved by all affected authors, subject to editorial review and the journal's publication ethics policies.
The corresponding author serves as the primary contact between the author group and KPSBSL throughout the submission, peer-review, revision, and publication processes.
The corresponding author is responsible for:
The corresponding author must maintain clear communication with all co-authors and ensure that the information submitted to the journal accurately reflects the contributions and agreement of the entire author group.
Individuals who provide limited, technical, administrative, or other assistance without making substantial intellectual contributions to the research should not automatically be listed as authors.
Examples may include individuals who provide routine data collection assistance, administrative support, transcription, language editing, proofreading, technical assistance, or general supervision without meeting the applicable authorship criteria.
Such contributions may be acknowledged appropriately in the manuscript, with the permission of the individuals concerned.
Financial support, institutional leadership, academic seniority, supervisory responsibilities, or access to research facilities alone does not justify authorship.
However, contributors who make substantial qualifying intellectual contributions and meet the applicable authorship requirements must not be excluded from authorship without appropriate justification.
Any proposed change in authorship after manuscript submission must be communicated to the KPSBSL editorial office with a clear explanation of the reasons for the change.
Changes may include adding or removing an author, changing the order of authors, or modifying the corresponding author. Written agreement from all existing authors and any individuals being added or removed may be required before the proposed change is considered.
The editorial team reserves the right to review authorship changes in accordance with the journal's policies and recognized publication ethics standards.
Authorship disputes should first be addressed transparently by the individuals involved. Where necessary, the matter may be referred to the relevant affiliated institutions or appropriate research integrity authorities for investigation and resolution.
KPSBSL does not determine individual contributions solely on the basis of institutional position or personal claims. Editorial decisions concerning authorship changes will be guided by documented contributions, the agreement of the parties involved, and applicable publication ethics principles.
KPSBSL does not accept guest authorship, gift authorship, honorary authorship, or ghost authorship.
All authors are expected to uphold honesty, transparency, fairness, and accountability throughout the research and publication process.
Authors must accurately represent their contributions and respect the intellectual contributions of other researchers, collaborators, research participants, and communities involved in the study.
Suspected violations of authorship standards may be investigated by the editorial team in accordance with KPSBSL's publication ethics policies. Appropriate action may include requesting clarification, suspending the editorial process, rejecting a manuscript, or taking further action consistent with the journal's policies and applicable publication ethics guidance.
KPSBSL recognizes that artificial intelligence (AI) tools may assist authors with certain research and manuscript preparation activities, including language improvement, grammar checking, translation, formatting, preliminary data organization, and other appropriate tasks.
However, AI tools cannot be listed as authors because they cannot assume responsibility for the accuracy, originality, integrity, and ethical compliance of scholarly work.
Authors remain fully responsible for all content submitted to KPSBSL, including information, references, analyses, interpretations, images, and conclusions generated or assisted by AI tools.
Any use of AI that materially contributes to manuscript preparation, research analysis, data interpretation, or content generation must be disclosed in accordance with the journal's applicable AI policy. Routine spelling and grammar assistance may be treated differently where permitted by that policy.
Authors must independently verify AI-assisted content and ensure that it does not introduce fabricated references, inaccurate information, plagiarism, misleading research findings, or violations of confidentiality, privacy, copyright, or research ethics.
AI tools must not be used to fabricate or manipulate research data, generate false evidence, misrepresent sources, or disclose confidential manuscript or peer-review information without appropriate authorization.
The responsibility for the final manuscript rests entirely with the human authors.
The KPSBSL editorial team may request clarification regarding authorship eligibility, individual contributions, ethical declarations, research integrity, or the originality of a submitted manuscript whenever necessary.
Manuscripts that do not comply with the journal's authorship criteria or ethical requirements may be returned for clarification, placed on hold pending an investigation, or rejected in accordance with the journal's policies.
Where concerns arise after publication, the journal may take appropriate corrective action in accordance with recognized publication ethics standards and its applicable policies.
By submitting a manuscript to KPSBSL, authors confirm that:
Through this authorship policy, Kajian Pendidikan, Seni, Budaya, Sosial dan Lingkungan (KPSBSL) seeks to promote responsible scholarly collaboration, recognize legitimate intellectual contributions, prevent authorship disputes, and uphold high standards of academic integrity in education, arts, culture, social sciences, environmental studies, and related interdisciplinary fields.
